Does it actually clean inside nipple valves and vent tubes?
Yes. That is the core problem it is built to solve. The 26 directional spray jets are angled specifically to enter the openings of nipple valves and surrounding surfaces. Nipple valves and rings go on the upper rack facing down so jets fire directly up through the opening. Vent tubes from Dr. Brown's-style bottles load in designated slots. Do I need to hand-wash anything before loading?
No hand washing is required. Dump out any remaining milk, load the items, drop in a cleaning tablet, and press start. The machine handles the rest. For extremely heavy formula residue that has been sitting for hours, a quick water rinse before loading helps the jets work more efficiently, but it is not required.
Does everything come out completely dry?

Will it work with my pump parts (Spectra, Medela, Elvie, Momcozy)?
The upper tray accommodates pump parts from most major brands including Spectra, Medela, and Momcozy wearable pumps. Very small parts from compact wearable pumps may need to be nested carefully in the upper tray. Load parts so they are not touching and jets can circulate freely around all surfaces. Larger flanges and wide breast shields load well in the main basket.
Do I need to use distilled water, or will tap water work?
Tap water works. If you have hard water, you may notice mineral buildup on the interior over time. Use a descaling tablet once a month to clear it. The machine will run equally well between descaling cycles regardless of your water type. Distilled water reduces the frequency of descaling needed but is not required.
How often does it need maintenance?
Drop in one descaling tablet and run an empty cycle approximately once a month. The machine itself signals when cleaning is needed. Between descaling cycles, wipe the exterior as needed. There are no filters to replace in the normal wash cycle; the HEPA filter for the storage air function should be replaced according to the manual, typically every few months depending on usage.
